12th Annual Ice Cream Social

IMG 2773b

The 12th annual Ice Cream Social at the Chattanooga Market was held on Sunday, July 10th, allowing market-goers the chance to sample and vote for their favorite ice cream flavors.

Five local creameries, including Cold Stone Creamery, Clumpie’s Ice Cream, Mayfield, Milk & Honey, and The Ice Cream Show all participated in the annual fundraiser held at the Chattanooga Market to benefit Chambliss Center for Children. The Signal Mountain Boulevard Baskin Robbins was unable to participate this year, but is generously making a contribution to the agency.

After testing 10 different flavors, participants voted for their favorites in two categories, “Best Pure Flavor” and “Best Flavor with Inclusions”.  The competition was very tight, however, coming out on top in both categories was Milk & Honey with their Salted Caramel as the “Best Pure Flavor” and Oreo Cheesecake as the “Best Flavor with Inclusions”.

Chambliss Center for Children recently announced plans for transitional living for youth “aging out” of state custody. Plans are to build two duplex, one-bedroom apartments that will give four young adults a place to live while counselors teach them basic life skills. It will be open to teens from Chambliss Center for Children’s Residential Program, which includes foster care and an 8-bed group home, as well as for youth from other agencies in the area.
